Hello all!

I bought the referenced monitor for our home and have a question for those more knowledgeable than myself (it won't take much!).

I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop attached to a docking station (port replicator). The docking station has a single stereo female port. I have attempted to connect the monitors speakers via a "Y" connector between the laptop/dock mini port via 2 RCA plugs to the monitors speaker ports. This does not appear to work. I have checked and double checked the volume levels and all connections and find no obvious problems, but still no sound. I have 2 external laptop speakers which test fine with the dock sound port.

Anyone familiar with the PG221?

AlSO: this link shows the input ports (including audio) for the PG 221 monitor:
http://www.hothardware.com/image_popup.aspx?image=big_pg221_6.jpg&articleid=1042&t=a

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

If you set a NEUTRAL gray background (desktop) it is not consistent in color or density to the eye. Mine was reddish on the right, green/cyan on top yellowish across the bottom , and blotchy brightness-wise across the whole panel.

IT IS NOT THE VIEWING ANGLE-as the colors and effects did not change as you moved your head only the intensity of the defect.

The monitor profiles just fine (but I had to reduce brightness from 75 [factory] to 3 to achieve 120 ft/candels) and the gammut does closely match the A98 color space as they say- even exceeding it in the red/magenta axis, just shy in the green but if you are planning on WYSIWYG color calibrated & profiled workflow this is panel (just mine?) is not gonna cut it.

FWIW, I POSTED ESSENTIALLY THIS SAME INFO ON THE DELL WEBPAGE FOR THIS MONITOR AND THEY HAVE NEGLECTED TO POST IT ALONG WITH THE MORE FAVORABLE LESS CRITICAL REVIEWS.

I even said that for for less critical applications this would probably be an awesome monitor.
I have 2 older Dell displays (2405's) that are not nearly as advanced as this one and one Apple 23" Cinema Display that I use daily for color work for years now, and they do not display the same anomalies as the 3008 WFP .

ALSO their "TECH SUPPORT" is a JOKE. They read to you from the user manual that you get with the purchase.
THERE IS NO MONITOR EXPERT TO HELP SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS OTHER THAN BASIC SET UP FUNCTION and CONNECTIVITY - THAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET TO.

I may give them one more shot with an exchange but The EIZO for 25% more may be a smarter if not more painful solution. Or wait for the new Apples....

BUYER BEWARE.
But that's just my experience, your mileage may vary......

Re: Flickering Monitor Help

Sorry, but I join in just today. Your monitor (I have the same model - working good) have problem with internal power supply (to fix ~40$), or power switch (~$10 if you deliver to any shop), or most unfortunate is a backlite panel we talking of $60-80. If you consider byu new one go to www.factorydirect.com (or .ca) and try ACER good quality series, refurbished in ~$160. Also try to sell them your monitor range $50-100. In Canada it is possible. Goosd luck Leo

Re: LCD 24 inch Wide-screen no budget

Samsung is always a good choice. But for the money, I'm partial to Dell's monitors. The 2407 is a really nice display.
