Also, I have a valid Win 7 Professional license, so no counterfeit software here. ;)

Anyway, I use this PC primarily for writing my seminars, essays 'n' stuff, but occasionally it works as a casual gaming rig, meaning - of all the titles released in the last 4 years - the newest title I played was The Witcher! ^^ Basically, I'm not into gaming anymore, War3, NWN 1 & 2, Oblivion, Morrowind, Jedi Academy, Halo CE, Half-Life 2 etc. - OLD titles are my thing.

Now, the problem is texture tearing and artifacts. At first I thought it was due to the PSU, but a 400W PSU is more than enough to make it run well, especially on a rig as old as that - so my only conclusion was that the blame falls on drivers.

I've installed the latest driver 275.33, but the texture tearing is still present. I've tried driver versions from 197.45 onwards but to no avail (basically, all the nVidia drivers since Win 7 launched). In Half-Life 2 as well as in many of the other aforementioned titles that crap keeps popping up.

So. Anyone got any ideas? :P
I mean, it's not something I'm obsessive about, just - on Vista and XP that wasn't the case, and it gets annoying as hell. I'm still running Win 7 Pro (no SP1), if that helps. Haven't tried that yet, updating W7 to SP1 but somehow I doubt that would do the trick.

Oh yeah, the airflow is OK, it's not perfect - but it's not an oven either! :)

P.S.: Thanks in advance, and I apologize for for any language mistakes - I'm from Croatia so go easy on me! ;)

RE: NVIDIA Responds to JPR Market Figures

I was referring to the new enhancements within the new Maya and Max 2012 versions. They have scripts specifically designed to utilize the GPU using Nvidia PhysX that allow you to run simulations within the viewport.

I was a big supporter of ATI going back to the 90's. But not anymore! The products, drivers and business practices of AMD suck! This is proven to me everyday with the instability of the V8800. Just like last night it kept flickering the screen and blanking out on me! When you spend 1500 on the supposed top of the line workstation card, it should at least be stable and perform as well as anything else out there. Or at least be top dog for more than two months! So like Cartman said, at least buy me dinner first! If I would have waited, then I could have gotten the 7800 for half the price with the same performance. If they had a money back guarantee then they would be out of business by now!

You are right that everything is solved with your CPU in 2011 versions. Yet in the new 2012 versions, the PhisX plug-ins are hardware accelerated in Maya and MAX, and can be utilized within the Viewport 2.0.

If the Bullet Physics plug in is anything like their attempts with the 3D Max Plug-ins, then I am certain it will screw up the system just like they did! Next time I spend over 1K for a new workstation card I am definitely going with a Quadro/Tesla setup. This will also translate to the gaming computer as well.

So if you are so certain that AMD is the best, then I will happily sell you my Firepro V8800 for 1100.00, I still have the box and will even throw in the DPI adaptors?

RE: ATI FirePro Peformance Plug-ins Optimized for AutoCAD, 3ds Max

Plus every time you open CCC, it says you have to restart for new changes?

It is almost like the ATI autodetect has a problem with stabilization!

What sucks even worse is that Nvidia has come out with their Quadro 4000! it only has 256 streams, but it also has OpenGL 4.0 compared to 3.2. All other specs are the same, I would take 150 stream if they are at least stable and more productive! Plus it is only 780 Bucks! Next time I end up spending 1400 dollars for my professional livelihood, I wont be wasting it on AMD products!

I would like to keep telling them how much they suck, but every time I do they thank me for buying thier flagship workstation card and say they will continue to support it! Well no SH@# it just came out you tools!

RE: Asus Matrix 5870 2GB Video Card Review

I don't know Rapid...The V8800 has 227/400 power consumption.

The Quadro 6000 is 243/446 Not that much of a difference. But when it comes to having my viewports actually working properly over saving a few bucks, is worth a whole lot more in terms of production times!

It still bugs the hell out of me that I spend 1400bucks and when I scroll through a scene, certain parts of a character stays in place and doesn't move with the animation. It becomes very frustrating when you are supposed to watch the motion of that arm or leg. Especially when it didn't do that with a cheap HD4850? So much for paying for WS drivers!

ATI has lost my support and I urge anyone who values their time in production to stick with Nvidia for 3D DCC!

Re: NVIDIA Launches GeForce GTS 450, Affordable DX11 Graphics

I think Nvidia enjoys the fact that they have a good grasp on the gaming market. Mostly because they listen to their customers!

Simple concept really! Kinda like Sye Sperlling.....He's not only the spokesman for hair club for men, He's also a client :P

Havent had a chance to try my GTS250 Bcuz I dont play to many games. It is good to see that Nvidia is averaging out their prices to be competitive with Amd.

I know now, if I could have waited I would have gone with the New Quadros instead of being raped by the Fires :P

I always thought FTW meant...F%#@ That Wally!
