«The phone [i e, GooPhone I5] is the same as the iphone 4 except for a few very minor changes.» Well yes - if one regards a 1.4 GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor as a «very minor change» from a dual-core 800 MHz A9, 1 GB RAM as a «very minor change» from 512 MB RAM, a 4 inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels as a «very minor change» from a 3.5 inch screen with a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels, and an Android 4.0 ICS as a «very minor change» from a iOS 5.1, 5 (the specs used for comparison above are those of the iPhone 4S ; those of the iPhone 4 differ even more). In the event, however, that one does not consider the above as «very minor changes», it becomes difficult to regard them as the «same» phone....

«... if a person can prove that they made something or came up with an idea before some one [sic !] it doesn't matter who patented the idea first.» You make it sound easy, fat78, but that little verb «prove» is fraught with difficulties. Apple was able to «prove» to the satisfaction of a hometown court that it was responsible for all those «innovations» and that Samsung was «infringing», while similar cases were thrown out of court in both the UK and Japan. Of course, if one believes that the US is the navel of the universe, than what happens in the US District Court for the Northern District of California is of far greater significance than everything else put together - but those of us who don't happen to share that fond delusion may, perhaps, be excused for viewing things differently....

What I'd like to see, when Apple does condescend to vouchsafe us an iPhone 5, is for HH to run a side-by-side test of that apparatus and the GooPhone I5. It would be interesting to see the results and compare the (unlocked) prices for the respective machines....

Rip-off ? Isn't the principle «first to register gets the patent» ? Isn't that what Apple's patent's are based on : ripping off prior art and then registering it ? What's sauce for the Apple goose is sauce for the GooPhone gander, in China and elsewhere....
