I had been looking for a monitor which supported pivot from landscape to portrait. I believe I have found the perfect match: 22" HP Debranded DVI Widesceen LCD Ive looked up some reviews for the original product and it seems HP makes good quality monitors. This thing seems to go for around $330 normally, Geeks.com has it for $199 as a refurb. I

Alright, I am starting to buy these pieces now so hopefully I can assemble soon. As I was getting ready to buy the video card I noticed that there are a lot of similar ones. I am wondering - is there any difference, for instance, between the BFG Tech BFGE88512GTOCE GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit OC Edition and the XFX GeForce 8800 GT - Alpha Dog Edition

Yikes I hesitated and missed out on that excellent monitor deal :(. Im kicking myself now! I think I pretty much have my build set though minus the monitors. Let me know what you think: Case- NZXT Nemesis Elite http://www.circotech.com/nzxt-nemesis-elite-aluminum-gaming-gamer-tower-case-lcd-display-control-panel-500watt-ps.html Or NZXT Temptest http

Case I just found comes bundled with an 800 W PSU: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3685290&Sku=TC3J-2341 Might be a bit excessive but seems like a pretty good deal. What do you guys think?

Great links, thanks! I saw the Seagate Barracuda's are comparable as well - is Maxtor generally a more reliable brand than seagate? Also Bob you mentioned we could tweak this setup for a better GPU. Were you referring to the ATI 3870? I am torn between the two CPU's. The 45nm one is very tempting but on the other hand its $330 versus under

Id like to have at least 500 Gb in relatively high speed drives. Im open to a raid configuration of smaller drives if its not going to drive the price up a lot. For extra (longer term) storage I saw newegg has a seagate JAPD external enclosure of 2 500 Gb drives for only $185 which is very nice. As far as monitors I am again looking for the best bang

Bob, I looked through the items you linked - looks really good, though I have a couple of questions: Firstly, the cooler you linked [ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118223 ] says its compatible with socket 778 but doesnt list 775. Do I maybe want the 9700 instead of the 9500 for socket 775? Also you didn't link any HDD's

Actually I do plan on using it for games and graphics apps. I am hoping that there will not be too significant a performance drop running windows through VMWare, or I suppose I could always partition and run dual OS. If we could modifiy this slightly to boost the gpu that would be great. Also I plan to overclock which may have some impact on my case
Whats your budget. The same as before?
Yes, same as before: ~$1200 for the computer itself (incl. PSU & DVDRW/BR if I can manage) plus another ~$400 for displays.

Alright, so after working all summer I finally have my savings together and I am ready to buy. I realize however that it is now several months later and there may be some better deals on the market. I wonder if I could bother you guys one more time to check if there are any better deals or upgrades I should know about this time around? All of the adivce
