It's also a question of board real-estate. If you want 6-monitors, you need six display outputs. There is a 6-output 5870 coming soon. No word on a 6-output 5970 yet though.

Five or Six BSODs a day is crazy--there's definitely a driver or hardware issue on the machine for it to crash that much. It's not the OSes fault. I've had Win7 installed on an EeePC and old Athlon XP-based Compaq notebook since the first beta was released. Added it to another pair of Asus notebooks once the RC came out. And then upgraded

If you burn the ISO to a DVD, manually create a bootable thumb drive of sufficient size, and simply copy the Win 7 DVD over, that works too. I had Win 7 installed on my first-gen EeePC without issue.

Wow, that's rough. I don't know how I'd respond to that. But if it was someone you considered a friend, do whatever it is that you feel appropriate. His or her loved ones would probably be happy to hear any words of condolence or nice stories about your friend.

If it's a reference design, 3vil, installing one of these is really easy. I disassembled a 5870 for the review, and it took nothing more than removing a few screws and popping off the stock heatsink.

Only if you're talking about single-threaded performance. If you look at multi-threaded performance, the 860 is a significant step up from the 750, due to its support for HT.
