  • Re: Top Single Slot Crossfire/SLI GFX Card

Great pick. The only thing holding me back is the high expense, not necessarily just from the card itself which is doable by itself but the $100+ active dp-to-dvi adapters for anything past the first two connections. The performance is definitely there and if nothing else comes up I might just have to bite the bullet and go with it. Any other suggestions

  • Top Single Slot Crossfire/SLI GFX Card

Hi, I've got the DFI Lanparty JR x58 motherboard and I've been using it with an ATI 4890 feeding two 24" screens. Its been a nice setup and I haven't had any problems but I'm desperately in need of more screen real estate. As such I would like to add at least one more 24" monitor. To do so I'll need another graphics card

  • Receiver / Blu-ray combo

Hey I recently purchased a new house and am putting in a home theatre based around a front projection system. I've been looking around at parts and am currently having trouble deciding on an appropriate receiver. The two options I see are buying a small multimedia pc such as the Dell Zino HD and attaching it via HDMI to a pure receiver and buying

  • Re: SSDs - Patriot vs. OCZ

My initial testing has been completed! While my graph only shows read performance, write performance displayed identical trends. I personally ended up going with a 128Kb stripe size on account of slightly lower CPU usage compared with 4Kb. You can see specific numbers here: Hopefully these numbers will be useful to someone!

Thanks for the valuable comments frank and dave. :) The price premium for the Vertex II's over the Agilities was still a little steep for me to bare when buying multiple drives for a raid configuration however I did not abandon the Vertex series completely. My final solution was to use three OCZ Agility 120Gb drives in a raid 0 in my desktop and

  • SSDs - Patriot vs. OCZ

I'm ordering parts for a new computer first thing Monday morning and I'm stuck on storage options. I have two traditional 7200RPM drives planned to go into a raid 1 for large media storage but my dilemma lies with the boot / software disks. I decided I'd bite the bullet and go with an SSD configuration. Looking at a bunch of reviews two

  • HTC TyTN II vs. Sony Ericsson X1

The title pretty much says it all. I'm in desparate need of a new GPS capable smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard. Those two have become my top two choices, however if you have any other suggestions by all means let me know! The question is: is it worth the wait until late Q2 of this year for the X1? I think it looks better, comes with WinMobile 6
  • No Network Address

Hey, I just was working on someone's computer, just simple virus scans, defrag, clean disk, etc. basic stuff, then after a reboot, it would not get an IP. I've tried two different NICs and two different routers. I get nothing. Windows can see that I am plugging in a network cable, but after that it just stays at the 169.254.... default IP. Manually
