• RE: Valve: Left 4 Dead 2 Runs Faster on Linux than Windows 7

I'm no gamer and cannot address this issue directly, but I can say that generally speaking, identical applications that can run on both platforms run faster and more smoothly on 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 on my dualboot machine with Ubuntu and (64-bit) Windows 7 Pro. So I'm not particularly surprised...

  • RE: Steam Slashes Prices, Offers Killer Holiday Deals

The HumbleIndieBundle2 is still on sale for about another day , and now as a bonus, if you pay more than the average (currently $7.72) - they give you the first HumbleIndieBundle (6 more games) free! It's a great way to contribute to Childs Play, the EFF, and these indie developers - so check it...

  • RE: Steam Slashes Prices, Offers Killer Holiday Deals

DON'T MISS THIS: Speaking of Steam - The HumbleIndieBundle2 , where you get to name your own price, also provides you with a Steam code (and a Desura code) when you buy. Or, you can also download the games (DRM free) directly from the page whose URL they e-mail you after you buy. You can download...

  • Re: Steam Hardware Survey Reveals The Rise Of DX11, Decline Of XP
Wow, i wouldn't of thought NVIDIA would be so low on count here. We will slowly become windows 7 in full as people start to throw out old builds for a new build :).
The results can be somewhat missleading inspector. I have no doubt NVIDIA still hold more...

  • Re: Medal of Honor

I knew I read somewhere it's open to everybody on steam, finally found the link. I haven't done it myself to see if it still works, but you can try the method here:

  • What did you get in the Steam sale?

There's 1 more day left, I'm anxious to see what goes on sale for the final day in 3 hours. I definitely went overboard, bought 20+ games, so I won't list them all, but some of my favorite catches were Cryostasis for about $2, Assassin's Creed 2 half off, Borderlands + all DLC 50% off...

  • Re: Counterstrike Source Overhaul

Yeah, I'm hoping the same thing but trying to keep my expectations in check. Valve's silence (rather than outright denial) plus the partially-functioning alpha version of Steam for Linux found on their site shows that at least they're considering it. They probably don't want to commit...

  • Steam for Linux - IT'S OFFICIAL (maybe).

This just might be the best thing to ever happen to Linux: According to several sites that have been breaking the Steam for Mac news: "Valve has also confirmed that it will make Steam available to Linux users in the coming months." [emphasis mine] (

  • Cool Webcast

If you're interested in Linux ,or just want to laugh at a couple of Linux geeks, check out the latest Linux Action Show. I thought this was an exceptional episode, with a lot of topic relevant to things we've discussed recently here on HH, like H.264, Steam for Linux, VirtualBox, Ubuntu 10.04...

  • RE: Valve Introduces Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing DLC, New Weekly "Mutations"
All of them Valve included would much rather you buy the game again.
My argument to Valve on this was that there's no profit in that logic because most people won't buy another copy of a game they already own and are not actively playing. And, the...
