See this Atlantic article on the case for abolishing patents (with a link to the working paper, commissioned by that radical institution, the Federal Reserve Bank of Saint Louis). Article I, Section 8(8) of the US Constitution provides that : «[The Congress shall have power ...] To promote the...

Apple will no doubt resolve this flare problem - perhaps by offering a two-day training course on how to «angle the camera away from the bright light source when taking pictures» to users at a price of a couple of hundred dollars (or equivalent) a pop. Naturally, this solution will be patented...

Right, Ray Willington wrote about it here nearly a year ago. But the difference is that now the device seems to be generally available (in the US, at least - not (yet ?) here in Sweden) and thus perhaps available for an HH test. If the technology works well, perhaps we shall see it adopted in more cameras...

What I'd like to see, when Apple does condescend to vouchsafe us an iPhone 5, is for HH to run a side-by-side test of that apparatus and the GooPhone I5. It would be interesting to see the results and compare the (unlocked) prices for the respective machines.... Henri

Rip-off ? Isn't the principle «first to register gets the patent» ? Isn't that what Apple's patent's are based on : ripping off prior art and then registering it ? What's sauce for the Apple goose is sauce for the GooPhone gander, in China and elsewhere.... Henri
