  • RE: Official Steam Client For Ubuntu Linux Released

I bought a couple of new games from the sale to show my support. BTW, if you're using a 64-bit distro and flash does not work in Steam, you can fix it by following the instructions here: http://www.dedoimedo.com/games/steam-linux-flash.html

  • RE: Valve Continues its GoldSrc Roll-out for Linux and Mac with Counter-Strike 1.6

    >> "Currently, it's nearly impossible to join a server with any map at all" Click "Refresh all". For some reason, they set it up to not auto-refresh when you display the list. I see 1100+ servers and can get in them fine. (Edit: After going through another dozen, it looks...

    > Of course, if you’re really lucky, you’re probably gearing up for the private internal beta, which starts next week In that case, you're more than lucky: You work for Valve! I sent them a letter several weeks back expressing my enthusiasm to test, so I have my fingers crossed that...

Unless I misread this, it looks like we only have a month to wait. http://www.l4d.com/blog/post.php?id=8913 "All of this will also be available not just on the PC and Mac, but also for Linux users as well starting in the middle of next month and rolling out from there. " This fits with my working...

«Too bad there's 1) no proof of this and 2) no test specs. For all we know that linux system could've been running a far more beasty GPU and CPU.» 1) depends, JvanHummel , upon what one is willing to accept as proof. As regards 2), there are indeed specs, available here : http://blogs...

  • RE: Valve: Left 4 Dead 2 Runs Faster on Linux than Windows 7

I'm no gamer and cannot address this issue directly, but I can say that generally speaking, identical applications that can run on both platforms run faster and more smoothly on 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 on my dualboot machine with Ubuntu and (64-bit) Windows 7 Pro. So I'm not particularly surprised...

The HumbleIndieBundle2 is still on sale for about another day , and now as a bonus, if you pay more than the average (currently $7.72) - they give you the first HumbleIndieBundle (6 more games) free! It's a great way to contribute to Childs Play, the EFF, and these indie developers - so check it...
