If Verizon users really want an iPhone and are willing to pay for one. they could get a Verizon MiFi device and pair it to an AT&T iPhone then their iPhone would be on Verizon's network.

A friend of mine was looking for a cheap used iPod over the weekend and resorted to Craigslist, put in the serach term Ipod with a maximum price of $50 got thousands of hits 90% of which were will jailbreak iphone/ipod touch for prices ranging from $20-50 some even offered unlimited free apps.

I don't think AT&T will care the least bit, unless the Verizon rumors become true; people will just keep buying the iPhone in drones and they will keep using AT&T's service whether they like it or not. While I disagree with Verizon being a suitable provider, I would like it if they offered...

While I am pretty confident a software update can improve the situation I doubt it can outright fix it. The real problem seems to be that for a large number of left handed iPhone4 users the natural placement of their hands on the phone degrades the signal.
