The short answer to Crisis Causer's post above is No, Microsoft should not, given it's quasi-monopoly position in the desktop OS market, be allowed to do what it wants with its OS, if doing what it wants is a transparent attempt at lock-in in order to stifle competition in the browser market...

So does installing and running netscape 2.0 and doing the same. unfortunately with java script disabled you can't do much on the interwebs these days.. noscript.net makes a nice add on where you can selectively enable/disable scripts for sites your either trust/distrust.

When I was still using Windows, I preferred Opera (more compatible than FF), but that was quite a while back. On Linux, I prefer FF for 99.9% of things. I only have Opera installed for compatibility with the local ISD school-website (wife's a teacher), which insists that it won't work with Firefox...
