It's unfortunate that today's generation is more likely to associate David Hasselhoff with his drunken attempt at eating a cheeseburger off of the floor than with his portrayal of Michael Knight, a high-tech crime fighter who rode around in one of the coolest cars of all time, a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am, otherwise known as KITT. What made KITT so awesome was the integrated artificial intelligence. Long before Siri, Google Now, or Cortana existed, KITT was giving Knight directions and saving his bacon time and again.

Good news if you're a fan of the original Knight Rider series - KITT is for sale. Interestingly, it's not going for an obscene price. It's up for auction by Julien's Live with a starting bid of $15,000 and estimated selling price of between $30,000 and $50,000. Yes, that's pricey for a 1982 Trans Am, but this is KITT. Why is going so comparatively cheap?

KITT Open Doors

The main reason is because it's not the original car that appeared in the hit TV series. According to the auction description, fans created this KITT car and gifted it to Hasselhoff. It sits on display at the Museum of Style Icons in Ireland and for whatever reason, he's decided to sell it.

KITT Dash

This particular model is rear-wheel drive and sports a 5.0 liter V8 engine with an automatic transmission. It has an elaborately decorated digital dash and console to resemble the real thing, complete with W-style yoke steering wheel, and is programmed to speak with over 4,000 sound clips from the show Knight Rider.

In any event, if this was your dream car, head over to Julien's Live and enter your bid.

I saw this the other day.. its NOT the real KITT or if it is, they ruined it! KITT didnt have lambo doors, and didnt have those other headlights. Plus, the tablet mounted in the inside to the right of the wheel is obviously not original... and the extra gauges on the lower left.

RUINED!!! LOL

Even If it isn't the real KITT it's still pretty awesome. It would be awesome if it wasn't just sound clips but actually interactive A.I but I know that's not really here yet. Still nice car.

Why? His portrayal of Michael Knight was equally ridiculous. The esteemed actor William Daniels aka the voice of KITT consistently provided a more convincing performance through his disembodied voice each week.
