We’ve seen our share of wild chassis designs, and Lian Li is giving the world another with the DK01, which is a chassis that serves double duty as a PC case and a desk, which brings new meaning to the phrase, “sitting at your computer”.

The funky DK01 looks like a brushed-metal chassis turned on its side and mounted on legs and the surface is a solid piece of tempered glass. The power button and some USB 3.0 ports and audio jacks are on the front side of the case, to the right of where the user would sit. It’s unclear where the rear I/O ports are stashed.

The DK01 seems like a brilliant DIY mod, but Lian Li has applied its spit and polish to the idea which we kind of like even though we can’t think of too many practical uses for it.

Lian Li also announced the PC-A51 chassis, which was built after the company allowed the community to collaborate on design ideas.

Make the legs collapsible like a TV tray, or adjustable like crutches, and you'd have a definite winner in my book.

The DK01 is fantastic! I couldn't imagine using one, but the idea is tempting (though it's hard to get a feel for how large it actually -is-... it appears to be somewhat small).

Looks like a dumbed-down version of a Red Harbinger desk.

Red Harbinger took the "PC-in-a-desk" design to a new height with their Cross Desk design http://www.redharbinger.com/blog/portfolio/cross-desk-complete/

It'll be interesting to see what Lian-Li is charging for their desk, as the Cross Desk sells for about $2400 US.

system specs

Intel i5 3570***, ASUS Sabertooth Z77, Corsair AX850, 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3, Corsair Force 3 Series GT  SSD (120GB), WD VelociRaptor (300GB), water-cooled HIS Radeon HD7950, AZZA Genesis 9000, EKWB Supremacy CQ CPU block, XSPC RX360, EKWB-DCP 4.0 pump, Windows 7 H.P. - 64 bit

This may sound silly but I would like a desk case without a window.

The Red Harbinger desk is very nice - thanks for the PIC and the link, BMAN.
