For those of you in the "size matters" camp, you'll be happy to know that LG today launched its G Pro 2 smartphone with a 5.9-inch Full HD 1080p IPS display. Though the screen is big and spacious, it sports an extra slim bezel measuring all of just 3.3mm for what LG claims is an industry-leading screen-to-frame ratio of 77.2 percent.

Another intriguing aspect of the G Pro 2 is the sound capability. Smartphones aren't known for being all that loud, but according to LG, the G Pro 2's 1W Hi-Fi sound is 30 percent louder than in the G Pro, offering clearing audio and more powerful bass.

In fact, the G Pro 2 is filled with 'gee-whiz' features, another one being the so-called "Knock-Code" functionality. This is intended to make unlocking and using the smartphone easier and more convenient.

LG G Pro 2

"An evolution of the popular KnockON feature that was first unveiled last year in the LG G2, Knock Code allows owners to power on and unlock their G Pro 2 smartphones in one easy step by tapping their screens using one of 86,367 'knock' combinations," LG explains. "Thanks to LG’s intelligent algorithm and advanced hardware, the knock pattern can be entered on any area of the screen — whether the display is turned on or off — using anywhere from two to eight taps."

Getting down to the nitty-gritty, the G Pro 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.26GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU. It also boasts 3GB of DDR3 RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage supplemented with a micro SD card slot, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilizer Plus), 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC support, 4G LTE connectivity, 3200mAh battery (removable!), and Android 4.4 KitKat.

LG says the G Pro 2 is the first smartphone to feature OIS+, which adds software anti-shake functionality to the hardware-based feature that's already baked into the camera module. The camera is also capable of 4K Ultra HD recording.

Availability in the U.S. and other markets outside of Korea has yet to be determined, LG says.

Lots of features and good specs. This is gonna be a good seller.
