We can say with 100 percent certainty that there's no way in Hades Samsung is going to suddenly discontinue its super popular Galaxy S line of smartphones. That means you can bank on there being a Galaxy S5 at some point, but what we don't know are the details surrounding the next Galaxy S release, though Samsung Vice President and Head of Design Strategy, Dong-hoon Chang, did reportedly offer up an interesting tidbit.

According to a Korean news site, Chang said the Galaxy S5 will be made out of a "new material." He also said that Samsung is currently deciding whether or not to use a flexible display on the device. We're a bit skeptical ourselves since Samsung already announced the Galaxy Round with a curved display, but nothing would really shock us at this point.

Galaxy Round
Samsung's Galaxy S5 will use a different material and might also sport a flexible display.

There's also the possibility that Samsung might release two versions of the Galaxy S just as Apple did with the iPhone 5S/5C (and is rumored to be doing with the iPhone 6). There have been rumors of Samsung launching a premium version of the Galaxy S called the Galaxy F, and that could be the one that ends up with a metal casing (instead of plastic) and a flexible display.

Either way, we'll know soon enough. Chang confirmed that Samsung will hold a Galaxy S5 press event at Mobile World Congress (MWC) next month in Barcelona.
