Critics who worried that the Xbox One's $499 starting price might detract gamers and send them scurrying to the competition need not fret over the MSRP anymore. Gamers have spoken (with their wallets), delivering a message loud and clear that they're totally stoked to begin the next era of gaming with the Xbox One.

The Xbox One made its debut in 13 countries and quickly became the biggest Xbox launch of all time by setting a new sales record. It took less than 24 hours to sell more than 1 million Xbox One consoles, leaving stores depleted of inventory as Microsoft works feverishly to replenish stock in order "to meet unprecedented" (though not unexpected) demand.

Xbox One Launch

"We are humbled and grateful for the excitement of Xbox fans around the world," said Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Strategy, Xbox. "Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team. We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season."

Armored trucks painted green and black with the Xbox One logo plastered all over the place were seen delivering Microsoft's next-generation console to stores in an obvious (and fun) publicity stunt just prior to launch, but the festivities have only begun. Following the launch, Microsoft shared some interesting stats about what's occurred over the past 24 hours. For example, over 60 million zombies have been killed in "Dead Rising 3," over 3.6 million miles have been driven in "Forza Motorsport 5," over 7.1 million combos have been performed in "Killer Instinct," and over 8.5 million enemies have been defeated in "Ryse: Son of Rome."

Xbox One Soliders

For you parents worried about your teen spending too much time playing video games, Microsoft also points out that over 43.3 million Fit Points have been earned in Xbox Fitness already.

Now the race is on to see if Microsoft or Sony can sell more consoles. Preceding the Xbox One launch, Sony released its PlayStation 4 to retail a week ago and also announced that sales exceeded 1 million units in 24 hours. One advantage the PS4 has over the Xbox One is that it costs $100 less since the latter comes bundled with a Kinect motion sensor, which is a $100 accessory. However, Sony suffered a bit of a black eye when some early PS4 adopters complained that their system would not boot up, instead freezing with a persistent glowing blue light.

Did anyone actually doubt that they would sell out? Both companies purposefully made a limited amount to increase hype and ensure they sold out.

hater will hate its just how it is. I myself got the Xbox one and love it. You will always get some faulty devices any any device shipped. Nothing is 100% problem free, its really not hard to understand this guys.
