If you're a Roku user looking on at your Chromecast-owning brethren in envy, we have good news for you. PlayOn today made its PlayCast channel available in the Roku channel store. Using the PlayCast app, Roku users can stream online videos to TVs and mobile devices, in essence giving the Roku crowd the Chromecast-like ability to send virtually any video from a PC browser to a Roku-connected TV.

"PlayCast is the last piece of the puzzle needed to give Roku devices functionality comparable to Chromecast," said Jeff Lawrence, CEO, MediaMall Technologies. "With PlayOn and PlayCast, Roku users can now watch nearly any online video on their TV. Even YouTube videos can be cast to the TV with PlayCast."

The free app is available for all new and existing PlayOn customers. However, while the app is free, subscriptions to PlayOn's service is not. Various subscriptions are available at Fall sale prices. They include:
  • PlayOn + PlayLater Monthly: $8.99/month
  • PlayOn + PlayLater  Annual: $39.99/year
  • PlayOn + PlayLater Lifetime: $69.99 (one-time payment)
  • PlayOn Lifetime: $59.99 (one-time payment)

PlayCast works will all major browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Opera.
