But a custom cooled R290 is still the card to buy. Heck, at the listed prices you could get two R290 with custom coolers.

Let's wait and see what happens when mantle makes its debut in the market. Interesting times ahead.
Ought to be interesting to see what impact Mantle has. The 780 Ti is one beast of a card though!

How do edges look at 4k vs 1080p with the lower AA?
I would be interested in seeing a write up comparing image quality at playable frame rates on a 4k display vs 1080p. :-)

You definitely still need AA on a 4K display, IMO. I have a bunch of con-calls today. If i can squeeze in some screenshots w/ zooms, with and without AA today, I'll post 'em up here.

Ahh, the same rebranding, disabling, unlocking of chipset components and presenting it as something new. Fanbois will eagerly jump at the "- is best" notion. Anyways, It will be more INTERESTING to keep watch on the developments and implementation of key IP technologies that these hardware will leverage in the coming years - whether it will stagnate or surge forward.
Where is there a single fanboi in this thread?
Gonna go out on a limb here and say right above you. Thanks for the writeup.
Hahah.. that was funny Trev.
I like this card. I like the noise output being a little less than the AMD cards.
I want to see the AMD cards released and reviewed with better cooling solutions and higher clock settings from their partners as well as the same for NVIDIA cards.
That's when it will be time to decide on what to buy.
Also: I can't say that I'm stuck on either company. The price and performance for the money spent is what I look for. If they want loyalty they should just buy a Dog.
Don't part with your illusions. When they are gone you may still exist, but you have ceased to live.
So for $150 extra it beats the 290x in Bioshock! sign me up thats the only pc game I play!!!!
I'm with you Neil. I don't think I've ever bought a video card that was the reference design. The after market cards are so much nicer. Do have to give Nvidia credit though, their reference cooler is pretty sexy.
This is such an amazing card and a great write up as well
Hail to the king baby
i heard that this card is noisy
