Can't you just send the faulty part in on warranty and use the integrated GPU while you wait? Oh, wait. It's a Mac. Yep, that little black fruit on the front really makes it worth two weeks of downtime while you wait for your entire machine to come back!

But it is an all-in-one system..I'm sure Vizio and other companies that make AIO systems run into these p;roblems aswell..
The difference is? the windows variant of same parts slapped together and sold with a non-Apple name plate cost 2-3 times less... Hence the complaints..lol

Just theorizing, but I can't help but wonder about this and read into it a little.
While AIO/laptops and cooling power-hungry chips can be problematic in certain designs, this issue sounds not unlike some well-known but not-often reported on issues on some amd gpu skus.
While I am unsure of Barts/Blackcomb, but certainly some early Pitcairn parts had issues because some cards had electrical noise problems (because of capacitors; base spec too low from amd?). Some AIBs had issues with their cards causing issues very similar, if not identical, to those mentioned in this article (ie the black screen issue). It has since been rectified as far as I know, but with the proximity/power envelope of Barts vs Pitcairn combined with the fact mobility 6970 uses a mxm module rather than the notebook standard of bga, I cannot help but wonder if there is some correlation. Seems possible, but it certainly could be something else as well.
Here is TPU article referencing the issue with Sapphire cards, but it's insinuated this is an issue beyond a single AIB because of amd's involvement and response:
