On hindsight, it would appear that both Google and LG severely underestimated just how popular the Nexus 4 would become. By delivering a stock Android experience in a relatively high-end handset at an affordable price, Google had a hit on its hands, and it's still one of the most popular Android devices today. But is it being discontinued?

A collection of evidence by The Inquirer certainly suggests that it's at least possible Google is getting ready to discontinue the Nexus 4. First and foremost is the fact that the white version of the Nexus 4 has sold out, as we reported earlier today, and is now only available at T-Mobile. At Google Play, it just says the device "is no longer available for sale" with no mention of stock ever returning or being on backorder.

Secondly, The Inquirer noticed that U.K. retailer Carphone Warehouse has pulled its webpage for the Nexus 4. That's a bit odd considering it was one of the first portals to offer the handset.

To be clear, you can still order a Nexus 4 from Google Play. Both the 8GB ($299) and 16GB ($349) SKUs are in-stock and estimated to ship in 1-2 business days. Google's also throwing in a free bumper with purchase. But like the white version, these could sell out at any time if the Nexus 4 truly is being discontinued.

If that happens, don't panic. It would likely be replaced by the rumored Nexus 5, which would presumably cost the same but have better hardware.

They said the white model was a limited edition, and it is now selling out. Because it was limited....
