Motorola's pitching itself as one of the good ol' boys in a new ad boasting about its Fort Worth, Texas assembly plant and the fact that you'll be able to customize its unreleased Moto X smartphone tomorrow. The full-page ad is scheduled to run today in The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post.

"Tomorrow, you'll eat burgers, watch fireworks, and celebrate the freedom to be whoever you want to be," the ad begins. "It's with this same spirit that we're bringing you something new. The first smartphone that you can design yourself. Because today you should have the freedom to design the things in your life to be as unique as you are."

Moto X Ad

Motoroa's tagline for the Moto X smartphone is, "Designed by you. Assembled in the USA." It's a brilliant move by Motorola to launch the Moto X on Independence Day, though for consumers, the hard part is waiting until tomorrow to find out exactly what will be customizable.

AdAge, which secured a copy of the ad, spoke with Motorola's Brian Wallace about the Moto X, or at least tried to. Wallace wouldn't say which parts of the Moto X will be up for personalization, nor does the ad show a picture of the smartphone. He did, however, confirm that some components of the Moto X will ship from overseas, but that final assembly will take place domestically.
