A couple of years ago, avoiding 3D was a full-time job. It was everywhere. It was on TV. It was on advertisements. It was in the cinema. But despite the huge marketing push, consumers at large still felt it was a joke, and it's tough to convince consumers to wear those funky 3D glasses while enjoying content. That said, there's still a market for at-home 3D content, and it's a bit too early to call the latest push a complete flop. To that end, those fortunate enough to be in Google's Fiber footprint will soon gain 3net and ESPN3D.

Fiber TV uses fiber cables to deliver plenty of channels, as well as a Storage Box that you can fill with 500 hours of HD recordings, and a growing VOD library. And for those customers who also own a 3DTV and 3D glasses, you'll have more reasons to dust those glasses off. Subscribers to the Gigabit + TV Plan will get 3net, which features an extensive library of original 3D programming, including natural history, documentary, action/adventure, kids and family, lifestyle and cuisine, concerts, movies, scripted series and more. ESPN3D, the industry’s first 24/7 3D sports network, is now available through Google Fiber for $5/month (plus tax) with your Gigabit + TV plan -- shocker of all shockers, extra ESPN content is going to cost you.

Dear HotHardware,

Please stop writing articles about Google Fiber. Every bit of news makes me want to take a sledgehammer to my Uverse hardware or rent a U-Haul and move my belongings to Kansas which is no doubt an incredibly horrible place to live.

Sincerely Hating,

HAHAHAHAHA! I know the feeling.  Love U-Verse on my TV, but dumped their internet long ago due a problem I uncovered with their gateway (which I assume is resolved by now).
