Samsung on Wednesday sent out emails announcing that its ATIV Odyssey handset will be available to purchase in the U.S. starting tomorrow. You'll be able to pick one up from Verizon on the web or in stores for $50 (after a $50 mail-in-rebate) with a two-year service agreement.

A quick refresher on the specs. The ATIV Odyssey sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display with an 800x480 resolution, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, 1.2MP front-facing camera, 5MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and Full HD 1080p recording, microSD card slot, 2100 mAh battery, and a 4G LTE radio.

The ATIV Odyssey is Verizon's third Windows Phone 8 device, the other two being the HTC 8X and Nokia Lumia 822. it comes with new apps to further personalize the user's mobile experience, Verizon says.

"The Now app provides easy access to weather, news, stocks and more, so users stay up to date on important information all in one app. Shutterbugs can use the 5MP camera and built-in Photo Editor app to apply filters, frames and stickers in addition to resizing, rotating and cropping photos," Verizon says. "Once a picture has been edited and saved, users can share with friends or post to social media sites over 4G LTE."

Anyone planning to pick this up?

Not planning to pick up *ANYTHING* that requires a contract. How much does this handset *really* cost? Oh, wait, looking at the picture it's Windows Phone 8. Never mind, the price is irrelevant. I had a Windows 8 phone for 2 weeks. NEVER AGAIN!

The largest market in the world is now China.

The largest demand in China is for cheap smartphones.

That's where this phone will sell best.
