BB has no reason to exist really any more. I was really wondering when DISH bought them as to why it seemed to be pointless if not then shortly thereafter.
Yep. I can see how Dish maybe saw an opportunity to do...something...but it was probably a calculated risk that just didn't pan out. Sort of like when Randy Marsh bought a Blockbuster franchise for $1.
yeah Dish tried to invest in the Blockbuster brand name I think (what else could they have wanted?) but blockbuster was never really respected anyway. Most people hated them for their outrageous rental prices + late fees and was glad to see them die. Dish should have put that money into a new brand and did their own thing, they could have had some nice integration possibilities with their TV product but went for a "me too" product.
The old BB by my place has had many tenants since BB left. The latest is a pet supply store.
This is kind of depressing. As much as like Netflix,a lot of older movies seem to be missing from their selection of titles. BB was a great place to find those kinds of movies.
