I'm glad they are making up a new agreement. Hopefully, the silicon lottery will be strong with this one >:) (Had to XD)
Anyway, they really need to get things going, but the last thing they need to do is blow the last of their money in one place, so I suppose there is a bit of a bite to this as well.
Sounds like their taking a big hit up front to avoid an even bigger hit later down the line but this isn't a good sign for AMD whose been struggling so hopefully they'll be able to turn things in the right direction with this game plan but I don't think any positives changes that could come will be any time soon.
Isn't a good sign for AMD? They are doing something to turn themselves back into a profitable company! Look at hostess, they just expected the unions to give in, and the unions expected the company to give in. NOW WE GOT NO TWINKIES!
It's good that their trying to turn themselves back into a profitable company but the fact they have to do something as drastic as spend 400+ mil on no product to get out of avoid having to spend 500mil on product is a bad omen :(
Really GF expects AMD to pay a penalty for not taking bad chips? That's bull! Does anybody else work this way in the industry?
