Kim Kardashian, the American socialite and reality television star who turned 32 years old last month, had previously said she wanted an iPhone 5 for her birthday. It seems an appropriate gift request, considering both her and Apple's latest smartphone were the top searches on Bing in their respective categories.

In the field of technology and consumer electronics, the iPhone 5 ranked No. 1 as a search term on Bing, according to the "Bing Top Searches of 2012 Report," which is based on the aggregation of billions of search queries (it also topped the list for news stories). Here's how it broke down:
  1. iPhone 5
  2. iPad
  3. Samsung Galaxy S III / Samsung Galaxy S3
  4. Kindle
  5. iPad 3
  6. iPod touch
  7. Xbox
  8. PlayStation 3
  9. iPhone 4S
  10. Windows 8

iPhone 5 Back

People’s fascination with the latest smartphones, tablets and games consoles remains unfettered in 2012, with products from Apple, Amazon, Microsoft and Samsung topping the list," the Bing Team said in a blog post.

In social media, Facebook was the most searched term. Twitter came in second, and surprisingly, Myspace was No. 3 on the list, a sign that perhaps the social networking site is still relevant.

Getting back to Kim Kardashian (you know, the important stuff), she jumped up a spot from 2011 to overtake Justin Bieber as the most searched celebrity in 2012, pushing Bieber into second place. Even though it was an election year, Barack Obama came in as the 46th most searched person of the year on Bing, while Mitt Romney came in 43rd. Pop stars like Miley Cyrus (No. 3), Katy Perry (No. 6), and Nicki Minaj (No. 9) dominated the top 10 spots.

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo

If you're worried about any of this being signs of the apocalypse, you can breathe a sigh of relief -- Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and related search terms didn't top any of the categories they appeared in (TV Shows, Reality TV Star, and News Stories). Phew!

I'm ashamed of myself for liking Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. They're surprisingly likeable, not like the talentless Kardashians. Sure neither of them does anything particularly interesting, but at least it's fun watching how much Honey Boo Boo's family love each other.

And is it just me, or does anybody else get a little confused by single-word search terms?? I mean, what can one accomplish by just searching for "iPhone 5" or "Xbox"? You'll just get blasted by a plethora of websites that can contain anything from fake conga lines for an iPhone or videos of some guy humping his iPhone. I always like to search for phrases or even whole sentences. Maybe I'm just weird...

So you're saying that the people who use Bing are sheep. This comes as no surprise.

I am proud to say that I am clueless of the goings-on of both Honey Boo Boo and the Kardashian's and probably couldn't give a rat's backside about either if I did know! LOL

No one uses bing, this article must be celebrity satire.
