If there's one thing that has changed in recent years, it's expectations around shipping. Thanks to Amazon's Prime service, which now accounts for more shipments than Free Ground with orders above $25, folks are now expecting shipments to be free and fast regardless of where they go. Amazon is already testing same-day delivery on select items in select cities, and now it looks like Google is going to do its best to not miss out. In San Francisco, near Google's home base, the company is testing out its own same-day delivery services.

Plans for this have been underway for over a year now, but it's just now hitting the implementation phase. Select Google employees and their friends are now testing it, with a more widespread rollout to hit in the coming weeks and months. Google may be getting into the distribution game, but they don't intend to open up warehouses. It seems that many SF retailers will be using Google to move their wares to nearby people, but it's unclear what Google's cut will be, nor what pricing will look like.

Still, something tells us Google won't have any trouble attracting people who want their impulse buys to show up ASAP.
