Will there or won't there be an iPad Mini? And if Apple is planning to launch a smaller size tablet, when will it launch? Those are both good questions, and unfortunately all we have to go on are rumors and speculation. One thing we can tell you, however, is that original iPad owners are the most likely to purchase an iPad Mini device, while Kindle Fire owners are the least likely.

So says newly released results from an August survey by deals site TechBargains.com, which went out and pinged over 1,300 respondents. Surprisingly, only 18 percent of those surveyed said they're interested in purchasing the iPad Mini, and half of all respondents said flat out they have no plans to pick one up. Nearly a third -- 32 percent -- were undecided.

The survey results come from the same poll in which 45 percent of respondents said they would definitely buy an iPhone 5 when it was released. These results would seem to indicate that perhaps the iPad Mini, if released, won't be as popular as most people anticipate.

"Given Apple’s recent success it would be easy to assume that all new Apple products will be wildly popular. Our survey results indicate that theory is no longer the case," said Yung Trang, president and editor-in-chief of TechBargains.com. "According to our survey respondents, the so called iPad Mini will not be highly coveted because consumers are questioning the necessity of a smaller iPad, especially if they own an iPad or an iPhone."

Consumers could also be setting themselves up for disappointment. When asked the most desirable feature they hope to find on the iPad Mini, 78 percent said a USB port, 77 percent want a Retina Display, 75 percent are hoping for a memory card slot, and 74 percent indicated they hope the speakers are better than the ones used in the full size iPad.

Do you plan on purchasing an iPad Mini? What features are you hoping Apple implements in the smaller size tablet?

Not only do I not plan to purchase an iPad mini, I will never buy any Apple product as long as they continue to try to use the courts to prevent fair and open competition.
