Doubtful, it's not like they compete much at all for the same users outside of the server market. Besides, there's always Ubuntu 13.04 that's slated for April, with Alpha release in December...
Well, 3vi1, given that, in contrast to the hullabaloo we see every time Microsoft blows its nose, the press hardly covers releases of GNU/Linux distros at all, I doubt that MS's choice of a date has much to do with the 12.10 release some eight days earlier, on 18 October. But perhaps HH could do its bit to repair the inequality - how about a head-to-head test after the 26th !...
