Samsung's first attempt at combining a smartphone with a tablet, sometimes referred to as a "phablet" was a huge success. Samsung has sold more than 10 million first-generation Galaxy Note devices, and the company is already looking ahead to the second-generation Galaxy Note II.

In fact, Samsung mobile boss JK Shin is expecting the Galaxy Note II to be even more popular than its older brother: "Sales may grow more than two-fold (compared with the previous model)." Although there have been rumors to suggest Samsung was considering moving the release date of the Galaxy Note II up to beat the iPhone 5 launch in South Korea, Shin indicated the Galaxy Note II will launch sometime in October.

Samsung has already confirmed plans to offer the Galaxy Note II through five major carriers in the U.S. The US versions of this phablet are expected to offer a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor, 4G LTE connectivity, and a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display.

the galaxy note line is enough to catch the attention of anyone who has tried taking notes in class. The tediousness of trying to type out all of the instructors lecture is ridiculous for those slower typists and trying to integrate pictures and personal notes is close to a personal hell for me. The stylus and software design has had my attention for a long time and even a Mac Boy like me has to look forward to the release of the Second gen note.
