What's good for the goose is good for the gander, and while Apple tries to sue Samsung and other Android players into submission, Google's Motorola Mobility division just lobbed a patent grenade of its own. Several of them, in fact. In a complaint filed with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), Motorola accuses Apple of infringing on seven different patents.

"We would like to settle these patent matters, but Apple's unwillingness to work out a license leaves us little choice but to defend ourselves and our engineers' innovations," Motorola Mobility told Bloomberg in an email.

Apple iPad 3

Among the list of alleged patent violations is Siri, Apple's popular voice recognition program that was (and continues to be) a centerpiece of the iPhone 4S device's marketing campaign. Other patents cover things like email notification and location reminders.

As is common with these types of cases, Motorola is seeking a ban on its competitors products in the U.S., including the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and even Mac systems.

While I don't like Apple, I don't want their products to be banned as well. I think the natural course of survival of the fittest should apply.

"You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new."

Apple does need to see how it feels suing everyone else.

In a strange troll-like manner, I want to see this happen. It would be an excellent lesson to a company that is trying to monopolize the marketplace.

It won't, but I'd enjoy it.

Patent wars are bad for EVERYBODY. They stifle innovation, they drive up prices, and they're just pathetic childish games.

Of course, maybe we shouldn't be able to patent everything on the planet. "Oh yes but when you clip your toe nails in THIS manner, THIS happens." No. Just no. It's a toenail clipper.

I don't buy Apple products. I won't buy anything that imitates one, either, 'cause otherwise I may as well have just bought Apple. I think Android manufacturers realize this. Without a differentiation ASIDE from just the operating system, people are just going to buy Apple.

Derp.

HAHAHA this would indeed be funny and I would love to see this happen. Im really getting sick of Apple claiming they invented everything and trying to sue and ban everyone.

Heh, Apple with some of its own medicine now huh? Well good luck to google/motorola. I highly doubt the ban will actually happen but nice to see Apple getting slapped in the face for once.

All of these lawsuits are such a waste of money. I'm all for patents for extremely unique and innovative ideas but this is getting out of hand.
