Well it'll be interesting to see what they come up with, and if they can actually all agree on an idea.
"You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to
them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new."
Wow that is a lot of companies to have to agree on something. As far as it goes though with something like this the more the better most especially for it to be successful.
I remember when this idea was first proposed several years ago. How far it has come.
Once cell phones become your payment method as well as your camera and music resource, then it will be a true convergence device; it's great to finally see that vision realized.
On the flip side of the coin, if your cell phone is lost or stolen, it is a security nightmare. Would be interesting to see possible solutions to this problem. PIN numbers etc.
I just hope they will not just represent themselves and their business when making policies. Of course they will agree on the things that give them the advantage like will have them do less modification, will make sure they stay at the top of the mobile payment industry, will ensure they will earn from other providers like mpowa who is starting to become another keyplayer for the MPOS industry (www.mpowa.com). This group has less to no credibility for me. The group should include diverse people from consumers, to business owners, to analyst, and to providers... and not just all providers.
