What do you do when you have a need for speed? You could tattoo "Top Gun" on your biceps or buy a motorcycle, but neither of those will help your boot times or increase overall system performance. Corsair's newly unveiled Force Series GS solid state drives (SSDs) might, however, as they offer the fastest performance to date in Corsair's SandForce-based lineup.

Corsair's newest drives pair SandForce SF-2200 series chipsets with toggle NAND flash memory to boost random write performance up to a zippy 90,000 IOPs. There are four capacities available, including:
  • 180GB: 555MB/s read, 525MB/s write
  • 240GB: 555MB/s read, 525MB/s write
  • 360GB: 555MB/s read, 530MB/s write
  • 480GB: 540MB/s read, 455MB/s write

These are all 2.5-inch form factor drives, and each one ships with a 3.5-inch adapter. The drives are available now for $190 (180GB), $240 (240GB), $350 (340GB), and $490 (480GB).

I'd love to have a few of these for RAID. As large as possible. They are just one of a lot of new, top of the line offerings from Corsair. (I'm thinking of the brand new AX1200i Digital ATX Power Supplies)

Dogs are great judges of character, and if your dog doesn't like somebody being around, you shouldn't trust them.
