Remember Hewlett-Packard's Envy Spectre XT, that sexy slab of Ultrabook that you could look at online but couldn't order? Now you can as HP starts taking orders on what looks to be a 13-inch beauty, provided you can cough up the requisite $1,000 asking price for a baseline configuration.

Standard options include a 13.3-inch LED backlit display with a 1366x768 resolution, a 3rd Generation Intel Core i5 3317U processor (Ivy Bridge) with HD 4000 graphics, 4GB of DDR3 memory, 128GB solid state drive, 4-cell battery that's purportedly good for up to 8 hours of run time, 720p HD webcam, backlit keyboard, Beats Audio, USB 3.0 support (a single port to go along with a USB 2.0 port), HDMI output, and a DisplayPort.

All this comes wrapped in a thin and light chassis that measures 12.44 inches by 8.8 inches by 0.69 inches and weighs just over 3 pounds. According to HP's website, orders will ship on June 29, 2012 (exactly three weeks from today).

If so you better hurry before Apple has them banned, do the same for HTC and or Samsung smartphone's of yeah and Motorola, actually on second though if you want to buy anything new and of current technology you better hurry before Apples no competition law goes into affect in which anyone with anything new who is not Apple is unfair competition for Apple and therefore banned for sale anywhere in the world.

I believe all other vendors should band together against Apple and sue them for the larger screen on the Iphone 5. They did it first after all, but Apple makes it revolutionary or something. As for this ultrabook. I want one with a dedicated gpu... probably dreaming, but the Intel solutions still suck.

Paul, you haven't mentioned the essential - is this machine thicker at the back than at the front ? If so, it is obviously in violation of a patent, No D661,296 S, on the (from the side) «wedged-shaped design» of a certain type of portable computer that the US Patent Office in its wisdom saw fit to grant Apple the other day. Believe me, I kid you not - I wish I were ! When is the madness going to stop ?!!...
