LibreOffice 3.5 is really not second rate... how is it? It probably could do with a few more presentation themes, but other than that......... I dunno. Google Docs is what I use primarily these days. I mean, how many people really *need* features that neither Docs nor LibreOffice can provide?
Google docs is a brilliant idea executed badly. If you are looking for a crippled office suite to use, yes you can go ahead and use Google Docs. But for people that do real business and work with other companies and produce documents that are not only text (Which by the way you can do perfectly well in WordPad which is provided free together with most versions of Windows), then Office is actually the way to go.
Libre Office looks and performs way much better than Google Docs, one of my problems with it is user interface design. It looks like it was made during the days of windows 95.
