It's certainly nice that we have companies like Netflix and Hulu entering the original programming fray; it just screams out that webseries are viable; that the people making them can get them to a wider audience. There are tons of webseries out there, some are well produced some are even made by really famous people yet they haven't got the recognition they need. Let's hope Netflix and Hulu can successfully open their doors to these aspiring producers.
And yes, I may pay for this type of stuff in the future but only if there's a major draw, a really major draw that deserves all of my money. The webseries that Hulu and Netflix provide can be good and there may be some people but no one really knows whether or not they want to subscribe to a service for a couple of webseries. (Arrested Development included.) With that major draw that's the pinnacle of drama, winning awards left and right; it'll guarantee subscribers who will be attracted to similar webseries and guarantee similar success; just look at HBO.
