I didn't know that the nook would get into the media market as heavily as it just did. This is a big step for them, but it looks like they have done it right getting some big names behind their release. I wonder what hardware updates they have planned?

The Nook Color has been a wonderful surprise. It really forced Amazon's hand to come out with the Kindle Fire....which I'm glad for because competition is good.

By turning the Nook Color into a multimedia consumption device like this, aren't they blurring the line between this and their Nook Tablet a little too much? I think people who see that the Nook Color can do this out of the box now will start questioning the need to spend an additional $50 for the Tablet.

Yes, I realize the Tablet has a faster processor and probably a better display, but would the average person care if they saw these at a B&N store?

Very cool, but I agree with DDeveaux. There will be little need for someone to pay the extra 50.

Here is a crazy idea.......Barnes and Noble pick up on webOS and run with it on the nook! I said the same thing for amazon haha, maybe this time it will come true.

I agree with @DDeveaux as well but at the same time in this economy people want more bang for their buck. And I also believe people understand an upgrade in hardware for 50 dollars. It says right on the nook landing page.....Faster, lighter, longer battery life, 2X the memory. I think they did a good job with this software update. Plus at $199 they need to compete with the fire.

Now you're just mashing it!

I have to agree... Even though this'll give the Amazon Kindle Fire additional competition in the price range margin, it really makes the tablet look meger and if test results prove that everything that runs on the Tablet can run the same on the Color then it'll further hurt the Tablet's position in the market, I mean if it's main features (such as a faster processor and a better screen) are undermined by the Color's newfound abilities then what point is there for the tablet to even exist.

Der Meister is right, there has to be some extra incentive for people to spend $50 more for the tablet version.
