If I won the GTX 580, I'd use it to replace my current 6870, and put the AMD card in my younger brothers christmas build I'm trying to make him so that he has a gaming computer to use when I leave to college next fall

If I won the motherboard, I'd use it to replace the the error ridden Asrock motherboard I purchased that has a couple of defunt SATA Drivers that cause irreparable BSOD errors if installed, and without those drivers doesn't detect more than one hard drive for some reason or enable the 6gb/ps transfer rate listed on the product specs, and I'd put the old motherboard into the build for my younger brother too (Not to be cheap but just because he wouldn't need or use multiple hard drives and a faster data transfer rate wouldn't make a difference for what he uses the computer for)

But yeah that's pretty much it, Thanks again to MSI, Nvidia and Hothardware for the opportunity to win this great stuff!

So I just finished my first computer build.  If I by some miracle win this, guess I'll just need to build another... Maybe offer at a great deal of the swap forum :)

Seems like you have one of those affected motherboards with the infamous chipset flaw. While a newer motherboard may be nice, you may want to try calling ASRock to see if they can replace it for you; seeing as it's a flaw across those boards with the flaw in them. If you did get it replaced then well, not much you can do but hope you win this baby.

Still, the motherboard is a great win no matter what type of motherboard you currently have.

Is it one of the original P67 Chipset Motherboards? It should have already been replaced by whomever made it for free.

Intel footed the bill to make it so.

You may ~still~ be able to get it replaced for free directly from Intel.

I had never seen/heard of HotHardware before just recently. This contest is probably the biggest draw that kept me coming back. I'm hoping to find (and so far have for the most part) a very knowledgeable forum community...I have tons of questions about almost everything.

I'd say good luck to everyone, but I don't think I'd really mean it in my heart...and I'd hate to mislead anyone hear about my intentions...especially myself. :)

I could wish NO BAD LUCK to everyone! I just don't want to get out-lucked. Wink

That GPU would be awesome. I personally have not ha an Nvidia card since I had PII 400. This has not been because I did not or do not want one it was because of price level compared to performance level (basically getting the best I can for the least amount of money). So winning it would be awesome!

@TaylorKarras:

Yeah this one definitely has some flaws but I've got it up and running, I'm just never going to buy an Asrock product again. I checked their insurance policy after you suggested an RMA it or seeing if it can be replaced but I'm already past the warranty for newegg and asrock as a manufacturer and the fee's for sending in your board etc. ranged around $80, it seems like too much of a hassle for something that might not even work again

@realneil:

Nope, its an ASRock 890FX DELUXE3 AM3, I'm pretty sure newegg doesn't even carry it anymore and hopefully Asrock stopped making it too

Heres the product: (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157196)

Still though, as much as I want to win this board or graphics card (to run some sick 3D with the TV im getting for christmas) I wish everyone goodluck!

I'd still have to buy a CPU for it since these are Intel (unless by some chance *starry eyed look* there are AMD versions of these boards too)

@OSunday:    That replacement deal was for certain Intel Chipset Mainboards with the original P67 Chipset on them. They had a flaw and Intel paid every manufacturer to replace the boards for the sake of dependability. It cost them a crapload of money to do it too.

OSunday:

Oh Wow,........I bought two of those boards and put Phenom-II CPU's in both of them. They have 8GB of GSKill RAM and Gigabyte GT240 video cards in them. Also, they both have SeaSonic PSU's in them.

Both systems went to my kids that are still in school in Southern California. They go to UC Santa Barbara.

Both systems are problem free and have been for over a year, maybe a year and a half. They use them every day.

Maybe you got a bad one, I've had nothing but good luck with ASRock boards and have bought over 20 of them in the past few years.

I have 5 ASRock boards here now. All work fine.
