Since RAMBUS doesn't have any engineers on board, and consists entirely of lawyers who make their money by extorting "patent license fees" from relatively-honest hardware manufacturers, it's unlikely that they will "lose their taste for litigation" until they go the way of SCO.
And when they do, good riddance to bad rubbish.
(By the way, no one "in the know" can dispute my claim of "no engineers," because even if there were any, no one would admit to working for RAMBUS; that would be a career-limiting move of the highest calibre.)
It couldn't happen to a nicer company.@@
He (the judge) should have just handed them a shotgun and shown them the door. I imagine one of the bigger players like Intel will buy this company outright. They have like 1000 valid patents all over the memory and board operational area of technology. I personally always hated RAMBUS and there Ram but it was an innovation when it first hit. I remeber I used ti hate working on those systems Vs. a EDO, SDRAM or even a DDR one when they came. The first AMD chip I bought was actually partioally becuase many or the Intel chips only worked with RAMBUS and I would say that is partially the reason AMD ever rose to dominance however short lived n the processor arena!
You'd think the Rambus people would have learned from the BetaMax fiasco but nooo, they went ahead and made a super expensive licensed product.
Doesn't take a genius to realize that was a bad idea.

Exactly,...they overcharged for their product by a lot and then had a cow when someone else developed a cheaper alternative. They are their biggest problem, and that has always been the case.
When Rambus memory first came out, it really was a superior product, and they could have parlayed that into a lot of volume sales if they hadn't been so greedy.
Dogs are great judges of character, and if your dog doesn't like somebody being around, you shouldn't trust them.
