I will be waiting for the 24/32 core run I heard they will be faster!
Intel to me has a massive advantage now. They have had one for a few years now, but I think it's only going to get bigger in the next couple of years. If intel dropped their prices just slightly, they would drive AMD out of business it would seem.
AMd better do something, the desktop version wasnt really a hit.
AMD's Bulldozer, while performing less then expected as launch, had potential... I mentioned before that with improvements, Bulldozer could perform well... While Bulldozer's server counterpart has more cores and some polish and a lot of potential; what I read makes me think otherwise...
While it is true that the Opterons would perform better in certain solutions, those solutions are far and inbetween. I mean take a look at the linpack results, while it is shockingly faster; I can't imagine anything that can exploit the performance of these processors... Well the only thing I can imagine these things being good for is 3D rendering and computational stuff but even for that, it wouldn't make much sense; well if your business was really, really profitable and it somehow led to positive things like faster release times or faster results but for the other stuff, I just can't see any reason for why AMD would be used for other stuff... I mean sure, Intel has an advantage with it's manufacturing dominance and that lead to the Intel advantage but I feel that AMD has a winner on their hands if it was used in the right solutions...
I'm not knocking Bulldozer or anything but the price difference gap is just too huge to ignore.

Yea AMD needs to get competitive again in the desktop space.
Nope. Evidence suggests that the factors crippling BD's performance are systemic, not workload dependent. Finding workloads that *do* scale well isn't just a matter of some reoptimization or updates.
Not looking good for these AMD chips. I also don't think most companies would want to pay the extra cost to keep these suckers cool.
you are gonna see like a 20 core processer soon :P
I am starting to feel sorry for AMD; AMD isn't necessarily doing bad, but intel is just that much ahead these days. It seems as if they hit an architecture sweet-spot, and AMD has yet to find it.
The 6176 and 6234 both have max TDP of 115W. Your assertion that one uses 43% more power than the other is false.
