Yesterday, we told you about the Nexus Prime, a hot new smartphone that was expected to be unveiled next week. Now, we're getting word that Google and Samsung may be delaying the arrival of this highly-anticipated smartphone. In a statement released today, the two companies said they won't be showing off the Nexus Prime at the Samsung Unpacked event next week during CTIA as we expected.

The Nexus Prime is also known as the Galaxy Nexus and the Droid Prime. Whatever you call it, this smartphone was expected to give us the first look at Google's next version of Android known as Ice Cream Sandwich. The two companies issued this statement:

"Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced."

Even though the phone won't be unveiled as early as we hoped, new reports have cropped up that have given us some information about what the phone will offer. More specifically, reports have said that the phone will be exclusive to Verizon Wireless and will come with a 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. The phone is also expected to have a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280x720, 5 megapixel camera and the ability to record 1080p HD video.

There are 2 sets of rumored specs: one is underwhelming, and one is awesome.

Could there be a reason why you decided to post the former one?

Bummer.....I hope they don't postpone it too long, rumor on the street is October 27th. I read that they postponed the launch out of respect for Steve Jobs, that decision makes me like Sammy and Google even more.

Now you're just mashing it!

I very much doubt their decision has anything to do with the untimely passing of Steve Jobs. In all likelihood, Ice Cream Sandwich or the phone itself wasn't ready. It's also possible that Verizon didn't want to negatively impact their iPhone sales by introducing a competing model too close upon the heels of the 4S's debut.

Regarding the specs of this phone, the only thing I find to be particularly underwhelming is the camera. The processor could be a bit faster, but will be more than adequate, I'm sure. However, both the screen resolution and the amount of internal storage are significantly better than what Samsung has on offer in their Galaxy S2.

I would hate to have bulge in my pocket with this device. As for the camera, I know a lot of people are complaining saying "Its ONLY 5-MP!?" but people need to understand that the megapixels does not mean quality. Its the lens etc that matters more than megapixel.

1gb of ram on the other hand, thats Amazing!

1GB of ram in a high end smart phone is standard now coolice, not amazing. My EVO 3D has 1GB of ram and it has been out for several months.
