HP is planning to launch its 9.7-inch TouchPad tablet in the U.S. this Friday. Before the launch, new rumors suggest HP may also have another tablet up its sleeves: a 7-inch model. According to the rumors, the 7-inch tablet will be revealed in August.  According to Taiwan Economic News, Inventec will manufacture the tablet. HP has reportedly placed an order for 400,000 to 450,000 Touch Pad tablet PCs per month.

Although no specifications have been revealed, many people expect the 7-inch version of the TouchPad to have similar hardware features as its big brother. HP's 9.7-inch TouchPad tablet is scheduled to launch on July 1. It will carry a price tag of $499.99 for the 16GB model and $599.99 for the 32GB model. The tablet will run on HP's WebOS and a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor.

Initially, the 9.7-inch TouchPad will be available as a Wi-Fi only version. Later this summer, a version of the TouchPad will also be available through AT&T. The TouchPad will be available through various retailers including Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, Walmart, Sam's Club, OfficeMax,, Fry's, and Microcenter.

I'm not sure how I feel about a 7-inch model. They have their place, but I definitely enjoy the larger screen tablets for my own use.

That said, I'm anxious to see what HP has to offer with the TouchPad on the 1st! WebOS may make this a really awesome tablet!

HP has been rumoring these for the past three years! I'll believe it when I see it!

Then I will believe it will be a good one when we see it!

From HP's past system you can be sure of one thing, the parts will be the cheapest quality available loaded with bloatware! All polished on the outside to look flashy :P

I dunno I kinda feel this 7 inch HP to be a bit more of a gadget than a tablet probably because I agree with animatortum that is may be cheaply made with some glossy exterior with a bunch of useless bloatcr^p and priced a bit too much for what it actually is

. so no I am not going to take a better look at this HP  7" tab at this time.
