HDTVs may be the hot "thing," but let's not forget about the real display hero. The one you enjoy each time you take the seat in a cinema. Yes, the projector. BenQ's W1100 and W1200 Full HD projectors have been revealed today, built around TI's DLP technology and supporting a native 1080p resolution. The W1100 has a twelve-lens optical system, full 10-bit color processor, 2000 ANSI lumens, multiple A/V inputs and a 4500:1 contrast ratio. The built-in color management system also adds balanced hue, adjusted to the users preferred contrast, brightness, color temperature, gamma, and white balance levels. This guy also has built-in SRS WOW HD sound tech as well as dual 10-watt speakers with dedicated sound chambers.


Like the W1100, the W1200 offers full HD 1080p resolution and a full 10-bit color processor, complemented by a brightness of 1800 ANSI lumens and an ultra-high 5000:1 contrast ratio. The W1100 and W1200 are available at MSRPs of $1,499 and $1,999, respectively. Not inexpensive by any means, but hey, you always wanted your own home cinema.

I have been really surprised how BenQ has been stepping up their game!

Although that still seems a bit pricey for only having 5000:1 contrast? It wont really be forward compatible with any type of 3D system? It is nice that it has 1080p, but at those specs you can currently get a similar speced model for under 1K. The Optima HD20 is a better deal on the egg, if you are just looking for a 1080HD projector.

SO Ben,....Take out the unnecessary speakers and other frilly junk, and give us a reasonably priced projector that can handle 3D 1080p. After all anyone who is going to use this as a HT projector is just going to use it for viewing and have the rest of the system routed through the receiver.
