We're not even trying to think about what our lives would be like without GPS. We'd be back to maps, struggling to determine which direction will take us from point A to point B. Thankfully, the world we live in is filled with navigation options, including the Magellan RoadMate 9055-LM. This large vehicle nav solution is now being equipped with free lifetime map updates, hands-free calling and extra content thanks to an AAA partnership. It's the first large screen from Magellan to offer free lifetime map updates, and it's just one of a growing many that offer such a feature.

The device has a gigantic 7" WVGA screen, which should be viewable by even backseat drivers. It's preloaded with maps of the 50 United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico and more than 6 million points of interest locations, and the built-in AAA TourBook guide with Diamond ratings and descriptions for US and Canada provides highly detailed information about hotels, restaurants local attractions, and a guide to merchants offering member discounts. A special AAA roadside assistance feature gives you your exact location with a touch of a button, and for AAA members, provides the phone number so you can get the roadside help you need quickly and easily.

It also includes Highway Lane Assist which guides the driver into the proper lane for upcoming lane changes and exits, as well as Magellan's proprietary OneTouch user interface providing users instant access to favorite addresses, searches and destinations. You'll also find text-to-speech technology, and a pretty large price to go along with the large display. It's on sale now at Best Buy for $299.99, and that gets you the unit itself, a power adapter, USB data cord and an extension mount + cradle.

Lordy!

300 Bucks!

Yow!,.......

I'm glad that I can read a paper map without any problems. I'm also blessed with a good sense of direction.

Don't part with your illusions. When they are gone you may still exist, but you have ceased to live.
