Been looking over a lot of motherboards at Gigabyte & Asus sites (hoping for dual-BIOS one), but I never see any mention in product description of 'hard disk autodetection'...is this called something else? I'm new to hardware technospeak! Seems like I should of run across at least one motherboard that has it by now.

I might be misunderstanding you but I'm very certain that i haven't had a motherboard that without  "hard disk auto-detection" capabilities since maybe 2000.

Sounds about right...no matter how hard I try to find recent books, they always seem to be way outdated! So you're saying all motherboards now have "hard disk autodetection"?
