Thanks for sharing this one Sammy

@2coolice  Too bad this time they dd not include Canada .I thought Tom's sweepstakes some times did include our friends north of us.

guess not this time & what's up with some of these contests rules we sometimes see about a math question ?

What's up with that ?

is it a mathematical  competency quiz as to 2+2 =4 or 22 ?

just a bit bummed that some new made friends can't enter as well.

It's a law in Canada that they have to be able to answer a question or show proficiency in order to win prize.

The purpose of the "skill test" is to circumvent Canadian anti-gambling laws

Yep, realneil nailed it... though what if i am unable to answer a question, or accidentally get it wrong in the excitement, that would suck. more info: Heres a wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skill_testing_question essentially.... its illegal for companies to profit from from contests cause they can be misleading. for example, if the public goes crazy because i'm offering like 10,000 prizes... i can make a shitload of money because people will keep on buying w/e it is i'm selling. Think charlie and the chocolate factory and kids going bat-*** insane buying chocolates everywhere. SOOO when you add a mathematical question, its not a contest anymore, its a skills testing. you get the answer right, you win the prize haha.

thanks guys for the feedcback about the details in Canada's contests rules ....maybe best to keep a calculator  handy by the phone to offset the likely event of the temporary brain-freeze upon winning notififaction...in the meantime

Quote RE: Dumb Math Tests a Canadian Thing  http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2007/01/72511

"It's also a standard in decline. In the past 20 years, expectations have lowered for Canadian sweepstakes winners. Today, many questions, such as the one used in Microsoft Canada's Xbox sweepstakes, have only three operations, and the tests rarely use numbers with more than two digits. Some questions use only single-digit numbers and ask contest winners to divide by 1.

"You don't have to have any type of aptitude," said Michael Katz, the CEO of Education411.com, a site that offers information on Canadian schools and whose sister site UC411.com hosts scholarship giveaways. "It is simply a way around or way to work within the laws."

Pretty sure the math  ques are not all that hard, or could cause a 'brain-wreck' with a 'Smarter Than a 5th Grader' proble
em and thank gawd they likley do not have simple single digit  math word problems like this:

There are 6 men
Each man has 6 bigs
Each bag has 6 cats
Each cat has 6 kittens
How many legs are there including the men ?

**** Note : These are normal healthy cats, kittens,& men.

>>> if you know the answer decide whether to post and share so others that Stumble upon it may find it amusing & left un-tainted.

Better yet give it to a public official,CEO, judge ..whatever with a pencil and piece of paper to maintain their positions...1 Answer 5 minutes.

well,

6 bags @ 6 cats each = 36 cats in total

36 cats @ 6 kittens each = 216 kittens in total

6 humans

36* 4 legs = 144

216 * 4 legs = 864

6 * 2 legs = 12

soo, 144 + 864 + 12 = 1020

they should be given 30 seconds to do it. its not that hard at all.

nope ..

not even close

try again

take another 30 seconds

just think if they answered it like you did

they would be looking for another gig

Ohh, whoops, each human has 6 bags, my mistake: Sooo

6 humans @ 6 bags each = 6*6 :36 bags
36 bags @ 6 cats each =  36*6: 216 cats

216 cats @ 6 kittens each = 216*6: 1296 kittens

legs therefore: 1296*4 = 5176 (kittens)

216*4 = 864 (cats)

6*2 (humans) = 12

total legs = 12+864+5176 =  6052

Well... 45 seconds should do the trick.... 5 mins is still too much

might as well forget about the 5 minutes let's just assume a one -shot answer

EDIT Note: @coolice you will def know when you have the correct answer but if you post it it may spoil it for others.

oh well

Daym... okay, i'm no math wiz, but i think i have a decent understanding of math to get the answer. Mind sharing it?

EDIT: my mistake, when writing the numbers, i wrote one of them incorrectly:

Change 5176 kitten legs to 5184: i dont know how or why i wrote 5176 when the answer to # of kitten legs is 5184

Add the total legs you get a double digit number repeated twice, for example 6060. I've not said the answer but believe what i've gotten is correct Wink

It looks like a nice cooler though.

OK no problemo McNeilio !

still looks like Asetek been adding some pretty good blog stuff regarding thermal issues & TIM roundup

did you happen to notice the pretty high temps on the vid ? about 80+C 30 minutes of prime 95 @4.6?  in a way either the 620 and 920 may be a quite popular cooling solution especially for those that like the quiet & looking at Sandy as well.
