Overclocked videocards are nothing new, but when you're the fastest on the block, you've earned the right to brag a little bit. And though HIS Digital isn't thumping its chest or making any "world's fastest" claims, the company's new 6870 TURBO graphics card is the fastest clocked HD 6870 we've spotted yet.

The TURBO edition comes clocked to 920MHz from the factory, and if you know of a higher-clocked HD 6870, go ahead and link it in the comments section below. That's not a challenge, we'd really like to know, as would our readers. We poked around Newegg and couldn't find a single card that matches or exceeds 920MHz on the core.

Rather than expend much energy ballyhooing the overclock, HIS seems to prefer touting the card's HD3D Stereoscopic Technology, which is a fancy-smancy way of saying it does 3D. Grab yourself a pair of compatible glasses and hook up a compatible monitor, and you're good to go.

No word yet on price or availability.

This is all well and good, but considering how memory bandwidth starved the 68XX series is, I think I'll wait unti the 6950 and 6970 launch. Memory OCs have a much greater effect on performance in most situations then core OCs.

I did find a card with a higher core clock

One of my PC's has a XFX HD5850 Black card in it and it's a nice performing card. The lifetime warranty is good too.
