I'm really not much of a photographer myself, but I didn't let that get in the way of me teaching a photography class
Here is a bunch of pics from some of my 7th graders:
I like those. Kids have an eye for pictures that leaves inhibition behind. They see it, they shoot it, and it usually works.
I passed out 12 Fuji disposable 35mm. cameras to kids that we took on a trip to see the California Redwoods and Sequoias. WalMart cut me a deal on the cameras and film processing too.
The pics from those cameras were a mix of mediocre to completely astounding. About 35 of their pictures were selected by the kids (6th. graders) and entered into a statewide school's photo competition and we won 1st. and 2nd. place.
We (me) bought several blowups and hung them around the school too.
Don't part with your illusions. When they are gone you may still exist, but you have ceased to live.
And that's awesome, I need to sync my lessons up with some of the field trips more. Our school has a bunch of digital cameras that I was able to check out for the class to use...canons, don't remember the model but nothing to fancy. This is the first year I've had middleschoolers so it was kind of all new ground to me.I assigned them to start with a minimum of 50 shots and then choose the 10 they liked best to present to the class. They had two assignments one was to take photos themed around shadows and reflections and the second was to come up with their own themed series of photos. It was a great way to teach visual arts concepts to a group with a very diverse range of technical and drafting skills.
Sounds like some fun projects, especially for middle schoolers! Now that I think about it, I did a project like that when I was in high school.

And then, Mama has to keep her babies fed,....
And for you hunters out there,......
Really nice bird photos, neil (cars pretty sweet too). I'll occaisionally see red tail hawks around my neihborhood but never when I have a camera on me. I once saw one fighting, or at least being severely harassed by, about four crows in the parking lot of my work. They were pulling some crazy aerial stunts. My dad got some great pictures of a red tail peering in his kitchen window.
I like how you got a theme going, reminds of abstract paintings. The first one is particularly good.
This guy (Baby Praying Mantis) was on the ball next to my weight machine today. I started looking around and there's 30 to 40 of them on my deck. They're about 3/4 of an inch long now.
For you old hippies out there, try this site,....
These are all such amazing shots. I love threads like these that show a better side of the turbulent times we live in, great way to relax and enjoy the simpler things.
"I have the power!!"
"Hey realneil, that's a great link, my three year old nephew cant get enough, he wont quit from the computer screen and mouse. He just loves it, thanks for the share."

Wow some nice photography! Mine was all super amateur but it's been a lot of fun.
@Realneil. I call your barred owl and raise you a chipmunk! Actually really lucked out with this, I was so close when he fell asleep, wasn't even using my zoom lol.
Very nice PFeenstra and Manduh. I unfortunately don't get out in nature enough and only usually get to take photos of my daughter so I don't have anything to even compare with the stuff you guys and Realneil have to offer. Thanks for sharing
It's not a photo contest, post anything you want to.
"Sorry for the change in the mood, but Scarlett Johansson is so, so, so beautiful, very pleasant to the eyes."
Ah you don't have to apologize for that ^^ hahah.
Ah you don't have to apologize for that ^^ hahah.
"Yeah, one things for sure, 'Her Milkshake brings all the boys to the yard"
@realneil Oh I understand that I personally just don't like to put
pictures of my daughter up on the internet. But I found some older
photos from a few years ago that are pretty nice. These are from a rowing competition in Massachusetts enjoy.

tommy007: i don't like the spider!
It's not a Spider, it's a Praying Mantis. They eat Spiders.
I know the lazy daze of summer are here when these guys are around
ssshhh ! had to be very very quiet taking this one.. just 'cuz.
So I went for a drive. As usual, click it twice to get to the full sized shot.
So this is a picture of the cake my wife made for my daughters second birthday party. The thing was massive.
That cake is a work of art. Things like this are what families remember for life.
Tell her that she's got it going on with her cakes.
Lighthouse (a famous one) on the coast of Virginia.
Thanks I will be sure to pass the message on to the wifey. I was really impressed with it as she has not training and came up with the design all on her own.
What lighthouse is that it looks very old but well kept.
omegadraco:she has not training and came up with the design all on her own
And THAT'S what made it better, it looks home made. (home made = better)
Been snapping lots of my pets lately. My new Oscar Fish Toro and my cat Jeff Goldblum lol
I see your Fish and Cat and raise you a Bird with Squirrel.
And I give you,.....The Gang's all here, and a fantastic 'Leg Shot' to look at!
hah awesome squirrel pic! Is that a heron ^^?
PFeenstra:Is that a heron ^^?
Yes, a Heron, the one above has a few of them too.
realneil:And I give you,.....The Gang's all here, and a fantastic 'Leg Shot' to look at!
VERY impressive - but it needs a cat in there somewhere, too!
SPAM-posters beware! ®
Super Dave:but it needs a cat in there somewhere
It was a Bird Aviary at a Virginia State Park by the coast. (no Cats allowed)
Some of those birds looked big enough to eat a cat.
