Ok so as some of you know I have not been around much as of late. Part of what has kept me so busy is that my brother has come to live with my fiancée and I. He is autistic. With that he can not read. He is a big geek like me and he knows his ABCs. For the most part he is good to go on a computer, but I've been looking around for some speech to text program so that at the very least he can say talk to me over steam message while I am at work. A more feature rich program that could read to him and dictate his speech would be awesome. I don't mind paying for software, I just don't know were to look. I don't wanna spend $200 on software that doesn't meet my needs. So any ideas or points in the right direction would rock. Thanks you all!

I see Dragon Naturally Speaking used a lot in the Gov't sector. Might be worth checking out.

I used it way back in 2005 and it was pretty decent. It has the ability to learn your speach patterns and you can even operate the computer using only speech.

Supposedly it has come a long way since 2005 also, so i'd assume it's gotten even better.

I agree I used it years ago and it worked good then and from everything I read about it its quite a bit more advanced. Here,s a link for a good price on it if it will do you any good.

I've tried the windows tool. It doesn't really fit my needs. I ordered Dragon from buy.com. We will see how it goes. Big Smile
