I have been cell phone only for many years now (I am pretty sure about 5 now, maybe 6). I did do Vonage for about a year and a half when this first started. Then I figured why pay the extra cost. I could see VoIP usage as a business, and in fact a large number of business's do use VoIP through providers, and as private network protocols as well. Basically land line phone is just pointless. One other thing many will not know, the phone companies themselves reroute through VoIP because it is cheaper and more capable as a protocol. So if you use a land line phone it most likely at some place during the call reroutes through the phone companies or a third parties VoIP network. This is done because it is cheaper for the phone company to use VoIP as well. Even a lot of cellular calls go through VoIP on the cellular companies fiber optic backbones which connect cellular networks to land line phone and coaxial networks, which are more efficient.
About damn time too. I haven't had a landline since I needed one for dialup internet back in the 90's.
